Collection: Sensory and Outdoor
Step outside, dig in the dirt, feel the grass between your toes, splash in a puddle, chase a bubble — or spread a sensory bin across the kitchen floor and let the exploration begin right where you are. Our Sensory and Outdoor collection is built on a simple truth: children learn best when they are fully alive in their bodies, fully present in the moment, and completely free to explore the world around them — whether that world is a backyard, a park, or your living room.
Sensory and outdoor play isn't just fun. It is one of the most powerful and natural forms of child development available to us — and the best part? You don't have to do anything special. Just say yes to the mess, and let them go.
Why sensory and outdoor play matters for development:
Every time a child touches, moves, climbs, pours, or explores, they are building the neural pathways that support learning, regulation, and growth. Sensory play — sand, water, mud, textured toys, and natural materials — helps children process and integrate sensory information from the world around them. This is called sensory processing, and it is foundational to a child's ability to focus, self-regulate, and engage meaningfully with their environment. And the beautiful thing? It works just as well at the kitchen table as it does in the backyard.
For Occupational Therapists (OTs), sensory play is a therapeutic goldmine — indoors or out. Proprioceptive input from climbing, pushing, and carrying builds body awareness and self-regulation. Tactile experiences with different textures, temperatures, and materials support sensory integration and desensitization. Fine motor skills are quietly strengthened through pouring, digging, and manipulating natural objects. OTs often recommend sensory-rich play as a key component of a child's sensory diet — and these products deliver exactly that, wherever you are.
For Physical Therapists (PTs), outdoor play is where gross motor development truly thrives. Running, jumping, climbing, balancing, and navigating uneven terrain build strength, coordination, balance, and spatial awareness. Stomp rockets are a fantastic PT tool — the big stomp activates the whole body, building leg strength, bilateral coordination, and core stability while kids squeal with delight watching their rocket soar. Pustafix bubbles are equally powerful — chasing, reaching, popping, and tracking bubbles builds visual tracking, eye-hand coordination, and whole-body movement that PTs love. And when the weather keeps you inside, plenty of our sensory tools bring that same active, body-engaged play indoors.
For Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), sensory play creates rich, natural opportunities for language development wherever it happens. Children describe what they see, feel, hear, and discover. Bubbles are a classic SLP favorite — simple, motivating, and endlessly useful for building requesting language, turn-taking, anticipation, and joint attention. Stomp rockets inspire exclamation, prediction, and storytelling as kids shout "ready, set, STOMP!" and narrate where their rocket lands. Sensory bins spark vocabulary, descriptive language, and imaginative conversation at the kitchen table just as powerfully as any outdoor adventure.
Good news for busy parents: the learning takes care of itself.
One of the best things about sensory and outdoor play is that it works its magic without any extra effort on your part. Hand them a bucket, a bottle of bubbles, or a stomp rocket and head outside together — or set up a little sensory station on a rainy afternoon. Follow their lead, join in if you feel like it, and enjoy watching them explore. The giggles, the mess, the total absorption in play — that's development happening in real time. It really is that simple, and that wonderful.
At the Fun and Learning Clubhouse, our Sensory and Outdoor collection is thoughtfully curated to bring the joy of discovery to children of all ages and all ability levels — rain or shine, inside or out. Whether your child is a sensory seeker who loves to get delightfully messy, a sensory avoider building confidence one small step at a time, or a child working toward PT, OT, or SLP goals — there is something here to support their journey.
Play. Explore. Discover. It's exactly what they need.
